The Pakistani military said on Wednesday that the death toll from Tuesday’s terrorist attack in the country’s northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province rose to 18.
It said 16 terrorists were killed.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army, said in a statement that a group of attackers attempted to breach a cantonment’s security but after resistance from the security forces, two suicide bombers rammed their explosive-laden vehicles into the perimeter wall.
Following the blast at two different locations of the wall, the terrorists again tried to enter the compound, but their attempt was foiled, said the military.
The ISPR added that the troops eliminated all 16 terrorists, including four suicide bombers, adding that five soldiers were killed in the line of duty.
