The Nigeria football governing body is set to hold an unplanned meeting on whether to have Coach Jose Peseiro’s contract extended or cut short following the conclusion of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations
Peseiro’s current deal was extended to after the AFCON as stated in his contract, which was expected to have ended last year had the tournament been held as planned from January to February 2023.
Before the defeat of the Nigeria Super Eagles in the the hands of “The Elephants” of Ivory Coast, The NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau had told the media the media that the Portuguese’s contract would not be extended irrespective of the outcome of the championship. But some members of the federation’s board pleaded for his continuity when the national team, despite all challenges soared high and made their way to the final of the competition.
