Comedian and actor Lawrence Oluwaseyitan Aletile, known as Seyi Law, has come under harsh condemnations from tweeps following his public declaration of support for policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Through a message shared on his social media handle on Sunday, Seyi Law called on Nigerians to stand firmly behind Tinubu, expressing hope for progress.
Drawing parallels to the biblical narrative of Moses, Seyi Law emphasized his preference for enduring challenges under a visionary leader like Tinubu rather than opting for short-term comforts that may jeopardize the future.
Despite facing criticism directed at Tinubu, Seyi Law pledged steadfast support, stating his commitment to constructive criticism while advocating for sustained progress.
He stated, “I would rather journey with Moses through the wilderness to Canaan than indulge in temporary pleasures in Egypt at the expense of my children’s future.”
Acknowledging the dissatisfaction expressed by some Nigerians towards the government, Seyi Law emphasized the need for effective communication of governmental agendas, efforts, and actions.
He expressed his readiness to engage with the government and make demands for better governance.
The statement has evoked mixed reactions from Seyi Law’s followers.
A fan, Malcolm Omirhobo, criticized Seyi Law, suggesting that advancements in transportation render the journey unnecessary.
“Emergency comedian, Seyi Law or what do you call yourself? I am sure that the hunger and hardship in Nigeria have shut down your brain.
If not why do you want to spend 40 years with Moses in the wilderness on foot when you can make the journey by air in 1 hr, 45mins from Egypt to Israel? I pity you and the future of your children. @SeyilawComedy”
Another fan, Ayemojuba, pointed out Seyi Law’s overseas residence despite his professed commitment to Tinubu’s cause.
“Same Seyi Law that is feeding his family in the UK using the earnings he receives while journeying with Moses through the wilderness to Canaan.
Additionally, a fan expressed disappointment in Seyi Law’s decision to relocate despite his knowledge of government agendas.
“Seyi Law knows government agendas but he left those agendas to run to the UK. No matter how wicked a person is, he should have a limit.”
