Nollywood actor, Jigan Babaoja spoke low of Nigeria as he described the real advantage of being disabled in another man’s world, America.
He shared a video of a woman pushing him in a wheelchair upon his arrival in the United States, as he was offered the option of using a wheelchair due to his leg condition.
He remarked that the Nigerian mentality of rejecting pity still lingers in his mind. In contrast, during his time in America, he has never seen a disabled person like himself walking alone without assistance.
In his words: “The real advantage of disability in another part of the world, since I have been traveling up and down , they gave me option of getting a wheelchair cos of my leg, but Nigeria mentality of not wanting anyone to pity me hasn’t left my head!
Since I have been going around in the USA, I have never seen anyone like me walking themselves without someone pushing them. Had it been in Nigeria, people will be after your pocket instead of caring for you. It won’t speak well if I should return to Nigeria, and you don’t offer me a wheelchair!
