Club Brugge and Nigerian forward, Emmanuel Bonaventure has reportedly lost his elder brother to the cold hands of death.
On November 28, his older brother – Popti Emmanuel Dennis was killed in a sailing race in Lagos, Nigeria. His boat capsized for a reason yet to be known.
Despite an intense search following the occurrence, all help came too late. Popti Emmanuel Dennis was believed to be an experienced sailor who represented Nigeria at the Africa Games.
Reports from reliable sources also say he was a member of the Nigerian Navy. Popti was said to be in his early 40’s before his demise.
In showing support to the player over the death of his brother, Club Brugge tweeted:
“Popti Emmanuel Dennis, brother of our Dennis, died in a sailing accident. As one family, we want to support him. #YNWADennis”.
The player is yet to speak to the media.
Emmanuel Bonaventure was an unused sub for Brugge in their league match with Royal Antwerp on Sunday.
The Nigerian international left Belgium after that game to attend the funeral in Nigeria that takes place today, 15th December. Bonaventure is expected back in Belgium on Thursday evening.
