Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC has taken a commanding lead as the official declaration of the Ondo State governorship election conducted on Saturday across the 18 local government areas of the state begins.
The declaration of results began just after midnight.
The APC candidate who is also the incumbent governor is massively beating Agboola Ajayi, his closest challenger and the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the results of the 13 local governments declared so far. The result of Ifedore Local Government was the first to be declared with the APC candidate scoring 14, 157 votes to the PDP candidate’s 5,837.
In Ondo East LG, APC scored 8,163 while the PDP candidate 2,843. In Ile Oluji/Oke Igbo LGA, Aiyedatiwa scored 16,600 while PDP garnered 4,442.
In Idanre LG, the APC flagbearer scored 9114 while the PDP candidate scored 8940.
In Irele LG, the APC candidate garnered 17,117 while the PDP candidate scored 6,601 votes.
Also, the APC candidate won massively in Owo LG with 31,914 votes while the PDP candidate scored measly 4,740 votes. In Ondo West, Aiyedatiwa also recorded massive victory in Ondo West LG with 20755 votes to his closest challenger’s 4740 votes.
In Akoko South East, the APC candidate scored 12, 140 votes while the PDP flag bearer garnered 2, 692. Also, Aiyedatiwa recorded huge victory in Akoko North West with 25,010 votes while Ajayi scored 5,502. Aiyedatiwa, recorded the same feat in Ose LG, where he scored 16, 555 votes to defeat Aiyedatiwa who garnered 4,472 votes.
In Akure South LG, the APC candidate recorded another huge win, scoring 32,969 votes while the PDP candidate scored 17,928 votes.
Aiyedatiwa repeated the same feat in Akoko North East LG where he scored 26, 667 votes over 5,072 votes scored by the PDP candidate.
The collation of result for the Ondo governorship election was adjourned till 5.am at about 1.47 am for the declaration of results from the remaining five LGs by the returning officer for the election, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi.
