The Oyo State Government has announced that approximately 15,000 candidates will sit for its upcoming computer-based test (CBT) as part of the recruitment process for various positions in the civil service.
The Chairman of the Oyo State Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Kamoru Abiodun Aderibigbe, disclosed this at his office in Ibadan, highlighting the significance of the exercise.
The CBT will take place from Monday, 25th November, to Thursday, 28th November 2024.
Aderibigbe noted that Governor Seyi Makinde approved the recruitment of 900 officers into over 60 cadres across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) within the civil service.
He further explained that the commission received 22,235 applications, out of which 15,000 candidates, representing 67%, were deemed qualified for the CBT based on the advertised criteria.
“This recruitment exercise is unprecedented in the history of Oyo State. In the past two decades, recruitment into the civil service was typically done on a cadre basis. However, this administration has broken new ground,” Aderibigbe stated.
He highlighted previous recruitments under Governor Makinde’s administration, including 60 Environmental Health personnel, 692 Education Officers, and 30 State Counsels in 2020, as well as 19 officers for the Ministry of Lands earlier this year.
For the upcoming CBT, candidates have been grouped based on their cadres and assigned specific centres:
- Education Officers, Environmental Health personnel, Social Welfare, and Youth candidates will sit for their exams at the Arch. Bamidele Samson CBT Centre, opposite UCH, on Monday, 25th and Tuesday, 26th November.
- Candidates for other cadres will take their exams at the Distance Learning CBT Centre, Ajibode, Ibadan, on Thursday, 28th November 2024.
He said successful applicants have started receiving their invitations, while others can check the Oyo State Government portal to confirm their status.
Candidates are required to bring their printed application forms and invitation slips to their respective exam centres.
Aderibigbe expressed gratitude to Governor Makinde for his commitment to youth empowerment through employment opportunities.
He also urged applicants to maintain discipline and represent the state positively during the exercise.
