Stella Nwadigbo, a 46-year-old teacher in a school in Ikorodu, Lagos State who was caught in a viral video assaulting a three-year-old pupil was on Thursday arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem told the court that the offences were committed on Jan. 7 at Christ Mitot School, Ikorodu, Lagos.
Akeem said that the woman was caught on camera giving a 3-year-old boy slaps and blows while teaching him to write the numerals.
The offences, the prosecutor said, contravened Sections 135 and 172 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrates, Mrs O. Kushanu granted the defendant N200,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
Kushanu adjourned the case until Feb. 18 for mention.
Stella Nwadigo was arrested after a video showing her physically abusing a three-year-old pupil, Abayomi Michael surfaced online, sparking widespread outrage on social media.
The spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed her arrest on Wednesday, Jan 8th.
“The teacher has been taken into custody and is currently undergoing investigation” He stated.
“Further necessary actions will follow to ensure justice is served.”
In the same vein, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) in a statement on its official X account confirmed the arrest of Nwagbo on Wednesday.
DSVA wrote: “We are pleased to inform the public that the teacher in question has been arrested by Owutu FSU, and an investigation has commenced in earnest.
“Indeed, institutions of learning should be safe, warm, and protective environments for all children in their care.”
