In a fresh unprovoked attack by the notorious Lakurawa armed group on Saturday, two immigration officers and one civilian were killed in Kangiwa Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
According to a source who doesn’t want his name mentioned, the Immigration officers were at a spot where border-monitoring equipment would be installed when the Lakurawa gunmen struck.
At 2 p.m. on Saturday, a crowd had gathered at Sir Yahya Memorial Hospital, Birnin Kebbi, where a Hilux with the three bodies inside was parked.
Immigration officers keeping watch over the bodies refused to speak to newsmen.
Also, Kebbi Police image maker, SP Nafiu Abubakar, and his Immigration counterpart neither responded to calls nor replied text messages.
At press time, no official statement from the Immigration and the Police regarding the latest Lakurawa attack had been released.
