Singer Spyro and music executive, Ubi Franklin are accusing themselves of debt they have refused to pay each other.
While Spryo said he was deceived into performing at an event by Ubi and promised an underpayment which he was yet to get, Ubi accused Spyro of failing to give him an agreed percentage from a business they did.
Spyro made the revelation on the Echoroom podcast. He narrated that the issue began when Ubi Franklin told him that Davido wanted him to perform at a birthday party.
He said, “I have an issue with Ubi Franklin. He came and said David wanted us to perform at a birthday party he was invited to, that he was going to give $5,000. I called him to the side and said I don’t charge that amount, by Nigeria currency I charge at least N20 million.
“After I was ambushed to perform, Ubi changed the narrative and said it wasn’t David behind the request.”
However, in response, Ubi Franklin tried to set the record straight, saying that Spyro owed him ten percent from a deal they did, and asked Spyro to send the balance of what is left since there was a deficit.
He wrote, ““Enough is enough. A while back, Spyro called me that he wanted to buy a car and I connected him. When I connect buyers with sellers, I get my own 10%. It’s a business. Later, he called me that, they should reduce their money that he would help them promote, and I told him they don’t need that. Just pay them their money.”
“He eventually bought the car for 100million, and I didn’t ask him for my 10%. Days after, we went to Ghana for Iyanya’s birthday. Spyro came with us. One of my guys in Ghana called us for a show after his initial artistes canceled on him. I told Iyanya and Spyro if they were interested that the pay was $5k.
“After the money was paid to me, I called Spyro regarding my 10% for the car, he said when he completes the car payment he would sort me out. After a while, I call him, he stopped picking my calls. The $5k is still with me. Tell him to pay me my 10% since he wants to malign my name.”
Both parties have now gone ahead to release private WhatsApp chats to prove their case.
