Nigeria has been placed in Group D alongside Senegal, Sudan, and Congo Brazzaville for the 8th African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the tournament, initially scheduled for an earlier date, has been postponed to August 2025.
Despite the rescheduling, Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda remain joint hosts of the competition.
The official draw, conducted at the renowned Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi, saw joint-hosts Kenya leading Group A, which also includes Morocco, Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Zambia.
Kenya is set to face 2018 champions Morocco in the tournament’s opening match, designed exclusively for players competing in local leagues.
Nigeria’s Home-based Super Eagles, who secured a silver medal in the 2018 edition, are aiming to go one step further this time.
Tanzania, another co-host, tops Group B and will face Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, and the Central African Republic, who famously eliminated Cameroon during qualifiers.
Uganda, the third co-host, heads Group C and will compete against Niger Republic, Guinea, and two wild-card teams to be determined by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
