Bayelsa State Responds to Outbursts Over Face Of Bayelsa Girl Child

The Bayelsa state government has cleared the air on the recent appointment of former BBNaija housemate, Nengi Thompson as the Face of the Bayelsa Girl Child.

The state government made this known following reactions after it appointed Ebizi Blessing Eradiri as the face of the Bayelsa Girl Child. Nigerians have reacted on Social media, under the assumption that she was to replace BBNaija Housemate, Nengi Thompson.  The appointment caused such an outburst on social media with different reports such as: “Rebecca Nengi Thompson of BBNaija season 5 has been removed as the face of Bayelsa Girl Child”.

The reality TV star who was appointed by the state governor Douye Diri back in November 2020 was speculated to have been replaced by Ebizi Blessing Eradiri on many platforms.

It all turned out to be a misunderstanding. The Bayelsa state government stepped into the confusion to explain the new development. The TV star was not removed after all. Her position stands. The reality TV star, Nengi, also took to her Twitter page to praise and congratulate Eradiri

“Congratulations to Barr. Ebizi Eradiri. It’s amazing how you were able to pull that thru! Special thanks to my Governor for also finding her worthy for the honour. It is without a doubt that we will both work together to see how we can front for better welfare for the Girl child,” she tweeted.

In a chat with BBC Pidgin, the Chief Press Secretary to the Bayelsa state governor, Daniel Alabrah, clarified that Nengi has not been removed or replaced.

According to him, Nengi and Eradiri will work together in promoting the Girl Child in the state.

“Nengi is from the entertainment sector and as such she can function perfectly there. While Miss Eradiri will function in the education sector. This is for them to inspire and encourage young women from the state. It is wrong for people to speculate and politicise everything,” he said.

However, the Area Father of the entertainment, Charlie Boy reacted to the development in a post he titled “The irony of the Nigerian State” on Instagram.

Charly Boy wrote: The young lady with white is a First-Class Graduate of the Niger Delta University, Faculty of Law, as well as a First-Class Graduate Nigeria Law School… she was not Honoured by her Bayelsa State Government…

In another development, a girl, who is a second Class Graduate and a participant(A Runner Up) in the “Big Brother Naija” show, was given a State Reception and was also Honoured with a Government Appointment, also declared the Role Model to the Bayelsa State Girl Child ( the Face of the Bayelsa Girl Child)

Who should come first, is dis a case of misplacement of moral priority!

Meanwhile, Congratulations to our Lawyer, the True Face of the Bayelsa Girl Child, as far as I and every other realist, is concerned.
