The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been drawn into a tantalising Group C for the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), set to take place in Morocco.
The Eagles will face Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania in what promises to be a thrilling contest as the race for continental supremacy begins.
Nigeria’s clash with Tunisia is poised to be the group’s headline encounter. Memories of the Carthage Eagles’ triumph over the Super Eagles at the 2022 Nations Cup still linger, where Tunisia edged out the Eagles of Nigeria with a 1-0 victory in the Round of 16.
This rematch offers the perfect opportunity for redemption as Nigeria seeks to cement its status as one of Africa’s footballing giants.
The group also includes Uganda and Tanzania, two teams eager to upset the odds and make their mark on Africa’s biggest stage.
While Tunisia presents the stiffest challenge, Nigeria cannot afford to underestimate the determination and passion these teams bring to the competition.
The tournament’s other groups are equally brimming with excitement. Host nation Morocco will lead Group A alongside Mali, Zambia, and Comoros in what is expected to be a thrilling opening phase.
Group B, considered by many to be the “Group of Death,” features heavyweights Egypt, South Africa, and Angola, with Zimbabwe looking to defy expectations.
Elsewhere, defending champions Senegal find themselves in Group D with DR Congo, Benin, and Botswana, while Group E sees Algeria pitted against Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, and Sudan in an evenly balanced lineup.
Group F will feature a showdown of giants as Cote d’Ivoire face Cameroon, alongside Gabon and Mozambique, in one of the tournament’s most competitive groups.
As the countdown to Morocco 2025 intensifies, all eyes will be on the Super Eagles to see if they can soar above their rivals in Group C and set the tone for a memorable campaign.
The Nigerian sides were runner-up in the last AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire.
