Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Dayo Amusa, has opened up about her journey to motherhood, describing it as the most fulfilling and meaningful achievement of her life. She made this revelation during an interview with her colleague, Debbie Shokoya, on the Motherhood with Mummy K show.

Amusa, who has had her fair share of challenges, expressed that despite the mistakes she has made in life, becoming a mother is the one thing she feels she got right.

“Motherhood is fulfillment. You kinda feel complete as a woman. That’s the definition of motherhood to me. Even while not complete, you get the feeling that you have done something for yourself. I have done so many wrong things in my life, but being a mother is the only thing I feel I have done right,” she said.

The actress shared that she grew up in a home that cherished love and unity, which influenced her deep desire to have a family of her own. However, she admitted that life did not go as planned, and she had to navigate unexpected hurdles on her path to motherhood.

“Growing up, I always dreamt of being with my husband and kids. I wanted it so badly, but I didn’t have it at the time I thought I would. But thank God, we are here,” she added.

Amusa further revealed that her early years were marked by ambition, where she was deeply focused on her career. However, she later realized that her approach could cost her the opportunity of having children. This realization hit hard when she faced difficulties in her relationships due to her struggles with conception.

“At some point, I was ambitious like every other young lady out there. I wanted to be this, I wanted to be that. But I had to call myself to order and say, ‘If you continue this way, you might even lose the chance of having a womb.’ Unfortunately, things didn’t work out as I envisioned, and it became a huge challenge for me. I found myself in semi-marriages that failed because I was unable to conceive at the time, based on their expectations,” she disclosed.

During medical checkups, Amusa was diagnosed with fibroids and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), which made conception difficult. The actress described this period as a tough one, as she had to come to terms with her health challenges while dealing with societal and personal pressures.

Despite the obstacles, Amusa remains grateful for her journey, embracing motherhood with deep joy and fulfillment
