Atiku kicks against Natasha’s suspension, demands justice for women

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has strongly condemned the suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, calling it an attack on affirmative action and a clear attempt to silence women’s voices in leadership.

According to Atiku, Nigerian leaders are not doing enough to create an environment that enables women to thrive and contribute to the country’s development.

Atiku’s statement came on the heels of International Women’s Day, where he emphasized the importance of encouraging and empowering women to participate fully in governance.

He argued that the suspension of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan undermines fairness, representation, and gender inclusivity in governance.

“Women must be encouraged and empowered to participate fully in governance, not silenced when they take leadership roles,” Atiku stated.

He also praised Nigerian women for their resilience, hard work, and courage, calling them the backbone of society.

Abubakar highlighted the vital roles women play in homes, workplaces, and governance, noting their immeasurable contributions to nation-building.

“On this International Women’s Day 2025, I reaffirm my commitment to advancing, including, and protecting women’s rights in Nigeria.

“A nation can only progress when its women are given the space and opportunity to thrive,” Abubakar added.
