Nigerian international Victor Osimhen played a pivotal role in Galatasaray’s dominant 5-1 victory over Konyaspor, securing their place in the final of the Turkish Cup.
The match, held on Tuesday, saw Osimhen open the scoring in the 26th minute with a stunning header from a cross, powering the ball into the left post to give Galatasaray a 1-0 lead. His incredible aerial finish was a testament to his sharpness and ability to convert in tight situations.
Just minutes later, Osimhen nearly added to his tally, charging towards the keeper before unleashing a close-range shot. However, Konyaspor’s goalkeeper, Deniz Ertas, pulled off a brilliant save to keep the scoreline at 1-0.
Galatasaray extended their lead in the 42nd minute when Lucas Torreira capitalised on a rebound to slot home from the edge of the box, making it 2-0. The onslaught continued into the second half, with Roland Sallai adding a third for Galatasaray in the 47th minute, following a deflection that left Ertas stranded.
Konyaspor fought back in the 53rd minute, with Pedrinho scoring a well-taken goal after a clinical one-on-one finish, cutting the deficit to 3-1.
However, any hopes of a comeback were dashed two minutes later when Sallai struck again, making it 4-1 with a precise finish inside the box.
With the game nearing its end, Yusuf Demir sealed the deal in the 90th minute, firing into the bottom left corner from a pass inside the box, securing a comprehensive 5-1 win for Galatasaray.
Osimhen’s impressive contribution, both as a scorer and provider, was key to Galatasaray’s dominant display, as they now look ahead to the Turkish Cup final with their sights set on silverware.
