German Bundesliga side Bayer 04 Leverkusen have officially announced the appointment of Erik ten Hag as their new head coach. The Dutchman has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until June 2027.
“Let’s get started. Erik ten Hag signs with Bayer 04 as our new head coach until 2027,” the club posted in an official statement on Monday via X.
The 55-year-old tactician replaces Xabi Alonso, who previously led Leverkusen to domestic success. Ten Hag was widely considered the main candidate for the role following Alonso’s departure.
The club confirmed the deal is a two-year agreement, running through the end of the 2026/27 season.
Speaking after his unveiling, ten Hag expressed his admiration for the club and excitement about the opportunity.
“Bayer Leverkusen is one of the best clubs in Germany and also belongs to the expanded European elite. The club offers excellent conditions, the talks with those responsible have impressed me very much,” he said.
