Akwa Ibom governor, Umo Eno finally decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the All Progressives Congress, APC on Friday at an event held in Uyo, the state.
Local Government chairpersons, members of the state executive council, local government chairpersons and National Assembly members from the State also declared that they are moving to the APC from the PDP with the Governor.
Speaking at event witnessed by some APC governors and other chieftains of his new party, Eno said he finally decided to join APC after consultations with all stakeholders in the state.
The Akwa Ibom governor said he had on Thursday submitted his letter of resignation to his PDP ward.
He added that he had also sent letters of his resignation to the state and national executives of PDP.
“I have decided to progressively move to APC after concluding the consultations. I have today changed my political affiliation, but I will continue to hold on to my moral values,” the Governor said while promising that he will work to unite the party in the state.
Eno said he decided to join APC to provide support to Senate President Godswill Akpabio who is from the state and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He also declared that he will support the President in the 2027 election to that the President was re-elected to complete his reforms.
