FIFA Club World Cup: Bayern Munich maul Auckland City 10-0

By Olaitan Ibrahim

Bayern Munich delivered a stunning performance at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, dismantling Auckland City 10–0 in a one-sided Group C encounter in Cincinnati.

The German champions wasted no time asserting their dominance, opening the scoring just six minutes in through Kingsley Coman’s header. Sacha Boey and Michael Olise added quick goals, with Olise turning in a standout first-half display — scoring twice and assisting two more before being withdrawn at halftime.

Thomas Müller, playing in his final tournament for Bayern, contributed two well-taken goals, including a milestone 250th for the club. Young star Jamal Musiala marked his return from injury with a superb second-half hat-trick, including a penalty he earned himself.

Auckland City, composed mostly of part-time players, were completely outclassed but found some solace in the heroics of goalkeeper Conor Tracey, who made several key saves to prevent an even larger margin of defeat.

The result marks the biggest win in Club World Cup history, eclipsing Al Hilal’s 6–1 victory in 2022, and raises new questions about the gap in quality under the competition’s expanded 32-team format.
