Veteran Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Ego Boyo, has finally addressed the long-standing rumour that her husband forced her to quit acting.
In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the 56-year-old star debunked the speculation, revealing that her decision to leave the screen was entirely personal.
Boyo, who rose to fame in the early 1990s for her iconic role in the TV series Checkmate, stated that contrary to the viral claims, she left acting because she found more joy and fulfillment in film production.
“I left acting when I found out that I enjoyed producing more than acting. It was boring,” she said during the interview.
“The blogs wanted it to be something like my husband banned me from it. They wanted it to be sensational, and it was not.”
Ego Boyo began her career in the early 1980s and became a household name thanks to her performance in Checkmate.
