Juventus staged a sensational comeback to beat Inter Milan 4-3 in a breathless Derby d’Italia clash at Allianz Stadium on Sunday, with Vasilije Adzic’s late thunderbolt sealing the win.
The match had everything, drama, goals, and family storylines. Brothers Marcus and Khephren Thuram both scored, squaring off in front of their father, former French international Lilian Thuram.
Inter, reeling from a shock defeat to Udinese last week, made several changes, including the debut of Manuel Akanji from Manchester City. Juventus were without key players like Andrea Cambiaso, Francisco Conceicao, Fabio Miretti, Juan Cabal, Arek Milik, and new signing Edon Zhegrova due to injuries and suspensions.
The action started at a frantic pace. Early chances fell to Nicolò Barella and Kenan Yildiz, but it was Juventus who drew first blood. From a corner, Gleison Bremer’s knock-back allowed Lloyd Kelly to volley home with precision. Inter responded swiftly through Hakan Calhanoglu, only for Yildiz to restore Juve’s lead with a swerving strike from distance.
The second half saw Inter dominate possession and fight back. Calhanoglu’s sublime chest-controlled volley and Marcus Thuram’s header gave the Nerazzurri the lead. Juventus refused to crumble, Khephren Thuram equalised from a Yildiz free-kick, keeping the tension alive.
The defining moment came late. Substitute Vasilije Adzic unleashed a stunning 30-yard screamer that curled past goalkeeper Sommer into the top corner, silencing Inter’s protests over a perceived foul in the build-up.
Despite their efforts to the final whistle, Inter could not find a way back. Marcus Thuram’s late header went wide, leaving the visitors to suffer back-to-back Serie A defeats.
