The Elusive Search for a Perfect Body

Our bodies have been created to perfection by God Almighty. But it seems humans are always in the habit of telling Him he has not done a good job, with the unending quest to “look good” and have the perfect body.

There is absolutely nothing wrong in looking good but what would one say about seeking the perfect body so much that one decides to “go under the knife?” Looking good has suddenly turned into a serious business with high numbers of people going through extreme measures to have the perfect body and coughing out millions in any currency to achieve it. It’s not surprising to know that women aren’t the only ones spending lots of money to achieve the perfect body; men are also affected by the “perfect body syndrome”.

Most people who have enough money for these procedures don’t use cosmetics alone to enhance their beauty; they also include the cosmetic surgery.  Cosmetic surgery is also known as aesthetic surgery. It’s an operation whose end is to improve a person’s appearance; these operations include breast augmentation, liposuction and rhytidectomy, also known as the face-lift. There is also the eyelid surgery. Still, the great danger in these operations have been overlooked by many, with the several dangerous after-effects ignored.

Every surgical procedure carries its own risks; ironically, this risk can often only be corrected by undergoing more operations! Have it in mind that once you have made up your mind to undergo any kind of cosmetic surgery, there is every tendency that you will end up doing more to correct any defect. Thus the unending quest for “perfection”.

People are spending more money to look like their favorite celebrities, while these same celebrities are also spending lots of money to look perfect before the camera; they want to have the perfect straight, “pointed nose”, perfect lips, perfect eye lines, eye brow, waist, hip and so on. There are also some who feel ashamed of their body shape after childbirth and resort to surgery to reduce the size of their stomach or make their boobs more firm.

Those who don’t have enough money are going into debt just to look perfect and this is not healthy. Though cosmetic surgery help individuals in correcting an abnormal feature on the human body but the wrong uses of cosmetic surgery make many people look anything but “perfect”, even abnormal. Remember, the bigger the procedure, the higher the risk of complication. According to online medical reports, there is always a chance that infection at the start of the incision can occur, with excessive bleeding possible while a wound is open and occasionally a blood transfusion may be required. Blood clots may also spring following extended periods of surgeries; there are also risks associated with anesthesia that need to be talked about with the anesthesiologist before the procedure.

The amount of money that is spent on these procedures in order to get a perfect shape and body is alarming. But what is even more alarming is the shocking revelation that some people take loans to correct a surgery that has gone wrong. Still, cosmetic surgery has become more popular for people in modern times; many believe that it is a “sweet science” to increase the beauty of a person and also enhance the appearance of the individual.

But after spending huge amounts of money on the body to get the perfect shape, what then happens after death? The body obviously turns into a waste product! Vanity upon vanity, dust to dust: the body a vain person spends a fortune on just to make it look appealing to the public eye will still end up in the grave with dirt upon it, good only as food for worms.

Think deeply before you decide to get your nose, mouth, hip or any part of your body “done”. Think before you change the way you look through cosmetic surgery in order to look good before the public. Remember that when you eat healthy and exercise your often, you will get a good body that no surgeon can “give” you.
