Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, has instructed all council chairmen and different political office holders at local government councils in the state to leave their offices.
Governor Gboyega Oyetola publicly announced this in a statement through the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji. The statement was labeled ‘Important public notice.’
The announcement read, “The Executive Governor of the State of Osun, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola has directed all political office holders at the Local Government Councils to vacate their respective offices and hand over the Administration of their concerned Councils to the most Senior Local Government Personal”.
According to the governor’s statement, the affected political officeholders were required to vacate offices because their tenure had expired.
“This is in under the expiration of the tenure of all political Officeholders in all the Local Government, Area Development Councils and Administrative offices in Osun on Friday, 5th February 2021″ the statement read further.
The governor, thereafter, expressed his gratitude “Governor Oyetola appreciates their contributions to the development of the state and wishes them well in their future engagements.”
Affected officeholders were elected/appointed three years ago.
The local government in Osun state operates a parliamentary system which was introduced during the administration of Rauf Aregbesola, the current Federal Minister of Interior.
