Afrobeats singer, Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, clinched the award of the Best African Artist of the Year at the 2024 MOBO Awards.
The annual awards event which recognise and celebrate black music and culture was held in Sheffield, United Kingdom, on Wednesday, February 7
The ‘Amapiano’ crooner defeated his fellow Nigerian artists, Davido, Ayra Starr, Rema, Burna Boy, Adekunle Gold, and Grammy-winning South African singer, Tyla and others to clinch the award.
Asake now joins 2Baba, D’Banj, Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy on the list of Nigerians who have won Best African Act at the MOBO Awards.
The MOBO Awards are an annual British music award presentation honouring achievements in “music of black origin”, including hip hop, grime, UK Drill, R&B, soul, reggae, jazz, gospel, and African music.
