Street pop star Bella Shmurda has revealed how he spent a huge amount of money on a song that failed to blow up.
He also shared a fascinating story about his intuition and music career in a recent interview with Joey Akan.
According to him, he had a dream that his next single should be a street song, but to test the authenticity of the dream, he released a different type of song.
However, the song didn’t perform well despite spending $40,000 on promoting it.
However, when he finally released the street song he had envisioned, it reached number two in the country with a significantly lower budget of less than 20 million.
“I am a dreamer. A seer… There was this song I was supposed to drop I didn’t drop it. I saw it in the dream that my next song should be a street song. It was very obvious to me that ‘Okay o your next song should be a street song.’ Then I released another song just to be sure of what I saw.
Bella Shmurda also discussed his role as a label boss, particularly highlighting his signing of rising star Fola to his Dangbana Republic Label, which has been instrumental in promoting Nigerian street music.
He praised Fola, describing him as a supportive system who complements his weaknesses.
He noted that Fola has been with him for years, even before signing with his label.
“Fola is a supportive system for Bella Shmurda. I’ve a weakness but Fola joining me, complemented my weakness. He has been with me for years even before I signed him. Fola complements Bella Shmurda”, he said.
