Former Tottenham Hotspur attacker, Darren Bent, has handed Chelsea, under the leadership of Todd Boehly, the names of three players to sign for the Blues to challenge for the Premier League title this season.
Chelsea have been active in the ongoing transfer market this summer.
The Blues have already signed the likes of Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Carney Chukwuemeka, Marc Cucurella and Gabriel Slonina this summer.
The West London club have also missed out on a number of transfer targets, with Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Jules Kounde all moving to Barcelona.
But Bent believes Chelsea would definitely challenge the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool for the Premier League title this season if Boehly can sign Barcelona duo Frenkie de Jong and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as well as Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana, this summer.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Bent said, “If they [Boehly’s Chelsea] get those three, they are in the title race for sure. They have to be… look at their squad after that. They will have solved the problem of getting a goalscorer. Aubameyang’s attitude has been questioned, but when he got to Arsenal, he got ten goals in his first 14 games. At Barcelona, he got 11 goals in 17 appearances.”
He added: “It just went a bit stale for him [at Arsenal], maybe he didn’t start to suit the way [Mikel] Arteta wanted to play, but he can score. That is one thing you can’t take away from him, he can score goals and that is what Chelsea needs. If they get him, get Fofana into that back three and De Jong in, then they have to be [title contenders].”
