Ex Nigerian international and UEFA A License Coach, Sunny Kingsley has admitted that due to him seeing the dedication and determination shown by some players at the Soccer Temple Stadium in Agege, made him pledge his support for Goalkeeper’s trainers in Nigeria.
Most Football Club sides in Nigeria, including the NPFL and the NNL, are lacking in terms of Goalkeepers trainers, which has affected most of them in the Goalkeeping department.
Kingsley Sunny said this during his visit to the Agege Stadium on Friday, where he saw a group of players training some Goalkeepers. According to these players, they had launched and named these exercise, ‘Training the Goalkeeper’.This is to help train various Goalkeeper, as a result of most club sides failing to have a goalkeeper’s trainer.
In an extensive chat with Sports 247, Kingsley admitted that due to the determination and zeal he saw in these players training the Goalkeeper, he had to pledge their support for them so as to help enhance and develop our goalkeepers, since we have no Goalkeeper’s trainer in most football club sides here in Nigeria. He also spoke about so many other issues as well.
“I am in Nigeria now doing the work that God sent me here to do, sharing my experiences and helping to reconstruct Grassoot football in Nigeria. I have come to the Agege Stadium, seeing the wonderful work that is being done by this great set of players on training our Goalkeepers. Like you know, most of our football clubs don’t have a Goalkeepers trainer. I have seen a lot of Goalkeepers gaining experience from this exercise. It’s amazing when you come to Agege Stadium and see a lot of Goalkeepers trying to improve what they know, you have people supporting them and you have a very good atmosphere. That’s why I chose to be part of it, to help them in showcasing what they are doing”.
“What pushed me to support this exercise is the zeal and dedication I saw in the players here (at Agege Stadium), which made me support them with the little I have. I didn’t have much money on me, but the little I had, I gave them to continue the project, how we can improve it and make it better for the betterment of Nigerian football”, he stated.
Kingsley Sunny is not only an ex Nigerian international, but he is also the owner of Sports Kindergarten International, as he brings his long experience in European Football back home to his fatherland, so as to help the growth and development of Nigerian football.
