Dessers turns down $6m move to MLS side Atlanta United

Super Eagles forward Cyriel Dessers has reportedly turned down a big-money move to Major League Soccer (MLS) club, Atlanta United.

According to reports, Rangers and Atlanta United were close to reaching a $6m deal, but the switch was not agreed on player side.

Dessers has come under criticism throughout his stay at Ibrox.

The 29-year-old netted 22 goals in all competitions for the Gers last season.

The former Feyenoord striker has already started on a positive note this term with three goals already for the Light Blue.

Dessers arrived in Govan last summer for a reported £4.5m fee when Michael Beale was in charge.

Atlanta have previously had success in the Scottish market – having snapped up Giorgos Giakoumakis from Celtic before selling him on to Cruz Azul earlier this year.
