Popular Nigerian disc jockey and media personality, DJ Cuppy, has opened up about a painful personal experience involving betrayal by someone she believed had genuine intentions. Fashion trends
In a candid post shared on her X (formerly Twitter) page, Cuppy recounted how she once trusted someone who appeared supportive and kind—only to later discover that the individual had ulterior motives.
“I learnt the hard way that there’s no such thing as a free lunch,” she wrote. “A few years ago, I really thought someone was being kind. They showed up for me, offered help, and made me feel supported. I thought it came from a good place… But later, they made it clear they expected something in return—an investment or, hilariously, an introduction to my dad. I felt so stupid for not seeing it earlier.”
Cuppy revealed that the person’s true intention was to leverage their connection with her to reach her billionaire father, Femi Otedola.
Reflecting on the experience, she cautioned others to be discerning, noting that not all offers of support are sincere.
“Learn from me… Not everything that looks like support comes from a good place!” she warned.
