The Nigeria Basketball Federation has named Abdulrahman Mohammed, from Gombe Bulls, as head coach for the D’Tigers FIBA AfroBasket 2025 Qualifying Tournament in Monastir, Tunisia while veteran Ogor Odaudu will serve as assistant coach.
Despite a lack of preparation, Mohammed will be hoping to lead the D’Tigers to a successful campaign in Tunisia, however, he will be without the team’s top players such as Josh Okogie, Precious Achiuwa, Chimezie Metu, Jordan Nwora, Gabe Vincent and a host of others.
Mohammed unveiled a 12-man roster for the competition on Friday, consisting of six home-based players and six foreign-based players.
The players selected are Michael Okiki, Johnson Anaiye, Kanyinsola Odufuwa, Ibe Agu, Bright Akhuetie, Abuchi Onyebuchi, Victor Eze, Mike Nuga, Moojeed Ewuosho, Devine Eke, Emmanuel Omogbo, and Otobo Israel.
D’Tigers are scheduled to play their first match against Libya later today, followed by matches against Uganda on Saturday and Cape Verde on Sunday.
