EFCC arrests 12 internet fraud suspects in A/Ibom, Kaduna

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have stormed Uyo, capital of Akwa Ibom State and Kaduna and arrested twelve suspects over alleged internet fraud.

EFCC ‘s Spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, said three of the suspects were arrested in Uyo, Akwa Ibom while nine were picked in Sabo Area of Kaduna State.

Oyewale said that all the three male suspects were arrested on Wednesday during an early morning sting operation at Mbierebe, Stadium Road, Akpasak Estate and Oron Road, all in Uyo.

He listed the items recovered from the suspects to include: four mobile phones, a desktop computer, a laptop and two cars.

The spokesperson further stated that the EFCC in the Kaduna Zonal Directorate arrested nine suspected internet fraudsters in Sabo area of the state capital.

He said that the suspects were arrested on Monday, following actionable intelligence that linked them to fraudulent internet activities.

“Items recovered from them include: nine iPhones, 17 android phones, four power banks, three necklaces, two bangles and one headphone,” he said.

According to Oyewale, all the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
