Former African Footballer of the Year and the Prince of Monaco, Victor Ikpeba, and former Super Eagles defender and current Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation, Augustine Equavoen, are the two football legends that would highlight the opening ceremony of the Second edition of the Odion Ighalo Soccer Fiesta, as action resumes at the Odion Ighalo Sports Arena, opposite Atlantic Hall College, Poka, Epe, Lagos State on Wednesday, December 16, 2020.
The two Nigerian soccer legends, have a duty to perform at Wednesday’s opening ceremony and Fridays’ closing ceremony, as they would jointly address the youth footballers drawn from football academies in Lagos, on ways to become successful in football.
The invitational soccer competition for football academies in Lagos, according to the General Coordinator of the event, Engineer Waidi Akanni, will kick off at Poka, Epe, from Wednesday, December 16, 2020, to December 20, 2020.
The first game of the competition comes up at 8 a.m between Pat Football Club and Gloriousday FC.
The second game of the opening day would see Ighalo Football Club battle against Papa Soccer Academy at 10 am, while Emperor FC slugs it out against Yobo FC at 2 pm.
In the words of Waidi Akanni, a former Lagos FA chairman, the fourth game of the opening day would see Alex FC tackle Perkins FC.
The Odion Ighalo Soccer competition for football academies in Lagos would get to the semi-finals on December 18, 2020, at the competition venue in Epe, as the Winner of Match One play against Winner of Match Three in the first semi-finals, while the Winner of Match 2 slug it out against Winner of Match 4 for the second spot in the grand final game which has been scheduled for Sunday, December 20, 2020, at the Odion Ighalo Odion Ighalo Sports Arena, opposite Atlantic Hall College, Poka, Epe, Lagos State.
