The quest to secure the services of Chelsea Academy product, Jamal Musiala, has been on for a while and according to media reports, the English Football Association are working harder than their German and Nigerian counterparts to fulfil this quest.
Jamal Musiala was born in Stuttgart to a Nigerian father and German mother. He moved to England at a young age with his mother and then moved back to Germany as a teenager making him eligible to represent the Three Lions, Super Eagles and Die Mannschaft, but he’s still undecided about which country to represent.
Jamal Musiala born 26 February 2003 is a professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Bundesliga club Bayern Munich and the England national under-21 team. He has represented both England and Germany at youth international level.
In November 2020, Musiala was called up to the England under-21 squad for the first time for their 2021 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualification matches.
He made his U21 debut as a substitute during a 3–1 victory over Andorra under-21s at Molineux Stadium on 13 November 2020. He scored his first under-21 goal during a 5–0 win over Albania at Molineux Stadium on 17 November 2020.
According to report, Gareth Southgate and his coaching staff are in pole position for Musiala and are attempting to convince him to pledge his allegiance to England by telling him he is the future of the Three Lions along with Borussia Dortmund super talents Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham.
Germany coach Joachim Löw has publicly courted the German-Nigerian attacking midfielder and plans to invite him for next month’s games, having watched him, win against Hoffenheim last month.
Musiala is expected to sign a long-term deal with Bayern Munich this month, presumably on his 18th birthday on February 26.
He spent eights years at the Chelsea academy before he was poached by Bayern Munich in the summer of July 2019.
