English FA Cup: Maguire’s late header powers Man. United past Leicester

By Olaitan Ibrahim

Harry Maguire emerged as Manchester United’s saviour on Friday night, delivering a dramatic 93rd-minute winner to complete a stunning comeback against Leicester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils, staring down the barrel of an upset, clawed their way back from a goal down in a pulsating contest that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

Leicester had drawn first blood in the 42nd minute when Bobby De Cordova-Reid found the net, sending the visiting supporters into a frenzy.

But United, fuelled by determination, mounted a relentless second-half assault.

With time slipping away and hopes fading, Joshua Zirkzee breathed life back into United’s campaign, firing home the equaliser in the 68th minute after pouncing on a rebound. The Theatre of Dreams erupted, but the drama was far from over.

As the game ticked into stoppage time, United won a crucial free kick deep in Leicester’s half. The ball was whipped into the box with precision, and up rose Maguire—once scrutinised, now the hero—towering over defenders to plant a powerful header into the bottom corner, beyond the despairing reach of Mads Hermansen.

Old Trafford exploded in sheer jubilation as Maguire wheeled away in celebration, his name reverberating across the stands.
