Chelsea lit up Stamford Bridge with a scintillating 3-1 victory over Wolves, courtesy of goals from Tosin Adarabioyo, Noni Madueke, and Marc Cucurella.
The Blues roared into fourth place in the Premier League with a performance that left fans on the edge of their seats.
The action began with Chelsea asserting dominance, but it was Adarabioyo who stole the spotlight early on. After an intense VAR review, his powerful strike was initially ruled out for offside, sparking frustration in the stands.
Moments later, justice prevailed as Adarabioyo buried the opener, leaving Wolves’ goalkeeper Jose Sa with no chance.
Wolves, however, were not ready to roll over. Matt Doherty capitalised on a blunder by Chelsea’s Robert Sanchez to level the score just before halftime.
The tension was palpable as both teams headed into the break with everything to play for.
Chelsea came out rejuvenated in the second half, with Cucurella restoring their lead in the 60th minute. The Spaniard pounced on a loose ball in the box and slotted it into the right corner with clinical precision.
The Stamford Bridge faithful erupted once again when Noni Madueke sealed the deal with a sublime header in the 65th minute. The winger, who had been a thorn in Wolves’ defence all evening, timed his leap perfectly to send the ball crashing into the net.
The closing stages were anything but dull. Nicolas Jackson thought he had added a fourth, only for the goal to be chalked off for offside.
Meanwhile, Wolves’ Rodrigo Gomes and Matheus Cunha tested Sanchez with sharp efforts, but the Chelsea keeper redeemed himself with brilliant saves to keep the scoreline intact.
Yellow cards flew in the dying minutes as tempers flared, with Chelsea’s Robert Sanchez and Tyrique George finding their way into referee Simon Hooper’s book.
