Tottenham started strong, taking a two-goal lead within the first 11 minutes. Dominic Solanke opened the scoring in the 5th minute, converting Brennan Johnson’s cross with a clinical finish.
Moments later, Dejan Kulusevski doubled the advantage with a precise strike from the edge of the penalty area.
Chelsea responded swiftly in the 18th minute when Jadon Sancho produced a brilliant individual effort, firing a shot off the bottom of the right post to make it 2-1.
Despite opportunities for both teams, including a missed header by Tottenham’s Pape Matar Sarr that struck the crossbar, the first half ended with Spurs in front.
In the second half, Chelsea’s persistence paid off. They levelled the score in the 61st minute when Cole Palmer coolly converted a penalty after Yves Bissouma was penalised for a foul.
Chelsea then seized the lead in the 74th minute when Enzo Fernandez unleashed a superb long-range shot that beat Fraser Forster.
The visitors extended their advantage to 4-2 in the 84th minute, with Palmer scoring his second penalty of the match after a reckless tackle by Sarr in the box.
Tottenham mounted a late push in stoppage time, with Heung-Min Son tapping in a James Maddison pass in the 97th minute to narrow the deficit to 4-3.
However, Chelsea held on to secure the crucial victory.
This thrilling win keeps Chelsea in contention for a strong league finish as they continue to chase the top spot, while Tottenham will rue missed chances and defensive errors that cost them dearly.
