Manchester United has announced the departure of Erik Ten Hag as first-team manager, bringing an end to his tenure that began in April 2022.

During his time with the club, Ten Hag delivered two significant domestic trophies, leading United to Carabao Cup victory in 2023 and lifting the FA Cup in 2024, marking a strong period in the team’s recent history.

The club in a statement on its website on Monday extended its gratitude to Ten Hag for his contributions, acknowledging his achievements and commitment, and offered well-wishes for his future endeavours.

Former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has been appointed as the interim head coach.

Supported by the existing coaching team, United said Van Nistelrooy will step in to guide the team while the club embarks on a search for a permanent head coach.
