Fabian Adibe, famed “Things Fall Apart” actor, passes on at 81

Nollywood actor, Fabian Adibe, famed for his role in the classic television series, “Things Fall Apart”, is dead.

A source gathered that the veteran actor died at the age of 81.

Journalist and movie producer, Seun Oloketuyi, confirmed the death in a social media post on Wednesday.

“Things Fall Apart actor, Fabian Adibie, is dead. Died 2:30 am this morning,” Oloketuyi wrote.

Adibe, who celebrated his 81st birthday in December 2024, reportedly died peacefully around 2:30 am on Wednesday, August 20.

The actor and television personality led Nigeria to its first Commonwealth Art Festival in 1965 before launching his acting career in 1987 with the acclaimed adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart.

He portrayed the character Ogbuefi Uzowulu in the series, acting alongside Pete Edochie, and earned admiration for his calm demeanour and powerful performances which endeared him to generations of viewers.
