Renowned Nollywood actor Bimbo Manuel has stirred a conversation with his recent statement that no actor in Nigeria can afford a luxurious lifestyle solely from acting earnings.
Manuel made the claim on a recent episode of the TVC show Your View, criticizing some of his colleagues for promoting what he referred to as “fake” lifestyles.
The 66-year-old star argued that the images of wealth, such as high-end cars and upscale mansions, often displayed by Nigerian actors on social media do not reflect the financial reality of the industry.
“The actors you see flaunting Range Rovers and mansions in Ikoyi are living fake lives,” Manuel said. “No actor in Nigeria would say he or she can buy a Range Rover from acting fees alone.”
Manuel, a prominent figure in Nollywood for decades, emphasized that he personally favours a modest lifestyle, choosing “a humble and realistic life” over flamboyance.
