Afro-soul singer Boypee born Sopuru Precious has reflected on how featuring Davido in the remix of his hit song “Ogechi”has helped to open doors for him in the industry.
In a recent chat, the Imo State-born singer said the experience was a significant milestone which has elevated his status in the industry.
According to him, he was introduced to Davido by the popular Nigerian socialite, Cubana Chief Priest, who has been a significant supporter and influencer in his journey.
Chief Priest’s belief in Boypee’s talent and introducing him to Davido opened new doors for Boypee, showcasing his growing influence and the industry’s recognition of his potential.
Boypee is fast becoming a defining voice in the realm of Afro soul-beat music. He’s not just a rising star, but also, a genre-bending genius who is set to make waves in the music industry.
His musical journey began long before he stepped into the spotlight. Back in 2010, while still in high school, he started as a dancer and vocalist. It was clear from the beginning that music was his true calling.
Reflecting on his early days, Boypee said, “I knew I was going to sing someday. I played songs often and always told myself that I would create my own sound.”
Boypee’s transition from dance to music was seamless, and by 2015, he embarked on a professional career. His early experiences laid the groundwork for his unique style, characterized by an immersive blend of African soul and contemporary beats. In 2019, Boypee began sharing exclusive freestyles and covers on Instagram, quickly garnering a dedicated following. His fanbase, known as “Chokowurld,” has grown exponentially, showcasing his ability to captivate and engage audiences through social media. His ability to blend soulful vocals with catchy hooks, influenced heavily by African Hip Hop artists, has set him apart in a competitive landscape.
