Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, alongside his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, and Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda, joined dignitaries on Friday to honour the late Dr. Akinsanya Sunny Ajose, former Lagos State Head of Service and member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), as he was laid to rest.
The funeral service, held at the LTV 8 Ground, Blue Roof Pavilion in Agidingbi, Ikeja, was attended by notable figures, including former Governor Babatunde Fashola; former Deputy Governors Senator Oluranti Adebule and Princess Sarah Sosan; wife of the first civilian Governor of Lagos, Alhaja Abimbola Jakande; lawmakers; religious and traditional leaders; and members of the Badagry community. Clergy from the Celestial Church of Christ, Jedidah Parish I, Oke-Ira, Ogba, officiated the ceremony.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, in his tribute, described Ajose as a dedicated public servant who contributed immensely to Lagos State.
“Dr. Akinsanya Sunny Ajose was a man of many virtues who served Lagos diligently for nearly 50 years. He rose to the pinnacle of the civil service as Head of Service, guiding the most vibrant public service in Nigeria. He was also a Special Adviser in the state cabinet and a respected political leader. His legacy as a committed public servant and proud son of Badagry will endure.”
