Former Super Eagles striker, Jonathan Akpoborie has advised Fulham forward, Josh Maja not to be hauled away with the excitement that he netted a brace in his Premier League debut against Everton.
The Nigerian international opened his goals account, when he slid in to turn home Ola Aina’s cross from close range to score the opening goal before tapping in after Reed’s shot had hit the woodwork for his second goal.
Reacting to Maja’s superlative performance against Everton, Akpoborie in a chat with Newsmen stated that Maja should keep his head cool and take each game as they come.
“It is too early for us to be singing the praises of Josh Maja after scoring a brace against Everton in the Premier League. No doubt, his performance deserved great commendation because it was his debut game.
“At this point, Maja should not allow Sunday’s game to get into his head because there are many matches to be played and he must ensure that he maintains his goal-scoring form.
“Maja’s performance will also be good news to the Super Eagles ahead of the team’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho respectively. I just hope he will continue with his good form.”
