Veteran Nollywood actress, Bimbo Akintola, has spoken on financial disparities in the Nigerian movie industry, expressing curiosity about the lavish lifestyles of some female stars.
It was reported that Bimbo, in an interview with her colleague, Emmanuel Ehumadu, questioned how her female colleagues fund their luxurious lifestyles, noting that she is not financially buoyant.
The thespian urged fans to question female Nollywood stars on how they make their money, considering the earnings from film sales.
Bimbo Akintola attributed their wealth to alternative sources, including family wealth, business ventures, and romantic relationships with politicians.
In her words, “Some of the lifestyles we see on social media can be real, and if it’s real, where does it come from? People come up to me and say, look at those actresses. They are very rich, and I tell them that I am not rich.
“When you see them, ask them what they do because we know how much they sell films. From a lot of actresses I see, I don’t know if it’s from their rich homes or if there are other businesses they’re doing.
“We have heard about actresses dating politicians and all of that, and we know things like that truly happen.”
