Popular Nollywood actress Biodun Okeowo has alleged that industry marketers were responsible for derailing her acting career due to her refusal to compromise her values.
The actress made the revelation on Friday via her Instagram story, addressing concerns from fans who have questioned her long absence from the screen.
Okeowo, who tied the knot with her US-based partner, Adeniyi Olabiyi, in July 2024, explained that she was blacklisted by marketers after resisting inappropriate advances.
“Marketers were the reason I left the industry after blacklisting me for refusing to remove my panties,” she wrote.
She further alleged that marketers instructed producers not to cast her in movies and even went as far as removing her image from film posters, despite her playing lead roles.
“They did so much damage to my career that I eventually got tired of acting and walked away myself. I developed so much hatred for a job I once had great passion for that I began to turn down roles,” she added.
While reflecting on her past struggles, Okeowo expressed gratitude for her current success, stating:
“That’s a story for another day, but God will judge evildoers. Thank God I’m a living testimony today! I’m doing extremely well.”
