Despite not being able to play for Nigeria, former England striker John Fashanu has again expressed his interest in coaching the Super Eagles, according to a report.
Fashanu represented England at full International level, gaining two caps against Chile and Scotland in the 1989 Rous Cup.
He was also eligible to play for Nigeria, and since retiring, he has expressed regret in not being able to do so.
The 62-year-old who now resides in Nigeria has been nursing ambitions around Nigerian sports in the past.
Again, the former Wimbledon striker says he is ready to serve his country.
“I want to be the manager of the Super Eagles,” Fashanu told journalists in Abeokuta, Ogun State on Thursday.
“That is one of the hardest jobs in this country, but I am saying I can do it. I can do it with the right people. They are the people who understand the game of football. It’s not about how much can you give us Fash? It’s about getting players who can play in different countries and getting players with the right mentality and character. Players who want to play for the country.”
The Super Eagles are currently being managed by Franco-Malian coach Eric Chelle, who took over in January.
