Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanaacho has been included in the seven-man shortlist for the Goal of the Month at Leicester City.
Iheanacho had a sterling performance in Leicester City’s opening game in the UEFA Europa League against Zorya Lugansk where he historically provided two assists before also adding his name to the scorers’ sheet.
While Iheanacho’s double assist got his name in the history books as the first Nigerian-born player to provide two assists in a single Europa League match, his 67th-minute strike against Zorya Lugansk has earned him a nomination for Goal-of-the-Month (for October)
Joining Iheanacho on the seven-goal shortlist are efforts from Leicester City first-teamers Harvey Barnes, Jamie Vardy and Hamza Choudhury, and development squad player Thanawat Suengchittawon and LCFC Women stars Paige Bailey-Gayle and Natasha Flint.
Super Eagles star Iheanacho nominated for Goal of the Month
Having been benched all through Monday’s 4-1 win against Leeds United in the Premier League, Iheanacho looks certain for action in the matchday three clash vs Sporting Braga in the Europa League.
That would Iheanacho’s eleventh appearance in European competitions.
