Former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has denied claim that he is set to dump the All Progressives Congress, APC for the Social Democratic Party, SDP.
Fayemi said this in a post on his social media handle following speculations that that he is set to defect from APC to Social Democratic Party, SDP.
The speculations followed defection of former governor Nasir El-Rufai from APC to SDP on Monday.
There have been speculations that Fayemi will join El-Rufai in SDP as part of coalition to dislodge the APC from power.
But Fayemi, in the statement says he remains a member of APC, though he has had cause to complain about internal democracy in the party in the past.
However, the former Ekiti governor said it is not too late for APC to change course and move towards greater inclusion and internal democracy, hence, he is remaining in the party.
The statement by Fayemi reads: “My attention has been drawn to a story circulating on several online platforms regarding my defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“As I have had cause to state in the past, I am a card carrying foundation member of the APC and this position has not changed.
“While I have been at the vanguard of demand for greater internal democracy and inclusion in the ruling party, I believe it is still not late for our party to change course and move towards greater inclusion and internal democracy.”
