Kano starts implementation of N71,000 minimum wage with November salary

Civil servants in Kano have started receiving alert for their November salary, with the full implementation of the N71, 000 minimum wage, promised by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Our correspondent reports that three weeks ago, Governor Yusuf approved the payment of N71, 000 as minimum wage for Kano public workers.

A number of Civil Servants who spoke to our Correspondent on condition of anonymity, on Tuesday, confirmed that they have started receiving alert for November salary with full implementation of the N71, 000 minimum wage.

“I can confirm to you that I have received alert for my November salary. I am very glad that the N72,000 minimum wage as recently promised by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf reflected on my November salary,” one of the Civil Servants said.

Aliyu Yusuf, Director, Public Enlightenment, Office of the Head of Civil Service, in a Statement on Tuesday, also confirmed the new wage payment.

According to Yusuf, “Kano state Government has commenced the implementation of the newly approved N71, 000 minimum wage.

“Being the tradition of the state government for the payment of salaries and wages for its workers on the 25th of every month, Kano state workers started receiving their November salaries with the approved increment.

Yusuf further stated that, “the Head of Civil Service, Kano state, Alhaji Abdullahi Musa expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for making the Governor to fulfill his promise.”

The Head of Service maintained that, “since the very day the Governor made the pronouncement on the salary increase, I remained optimistic that the Governor ‘s words will be matched with action.”

The Head of Service who was visibly happy, solicited for the cooperation of the teeming Civil Servants in the state to rededicate themselves to the service for effective and efficient service delivery.

He further urged them to ensure the reciprocation of the gesture by exhibiting hardwork and fear of God in the discharge of their assignments, so as to fully justify what they are earning.

While reiterating the government’s commitments towards continues improvement of the welfare of its workers, he admonished them to judiciously utilize the increment to better their living conditions by shunning away from all possible extravagant expenses.

Alhaji Musa also disclosed that in addition to the implementation of the new minimum wage, Kano state government has also commenced the payment of all the allowances of the health workers in the state.
