Abdul Rasheed, the son of the son of the late Buruji Kashamu, has been issued a Certificate of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Thursday.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Niyi Ijalaye, presented the certificate of Return to the lawmaker-elect at the INEC office in Abeokuta, the state capital.
The 26-year-old will represent the people of Ijebu North Constituency 1, at the state House of Assembly.
Official results from the March 18 Assembly election showed that AbdulRasheed of the Peoples Democratic Party polled 10,004 votes to emerge the winner.
He holds a Master of Science degree in International Finance and Investment from the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom.
Addressing the audience, the businessman and entrepreneur said he dedicated the feat to the people of Ijebu Igbo and promised good representation in the House.
Abdul Rasheed said, “Earlier today, I received the Certificate of Return to officially represent the good people of Ijebu North Constituency 1 at the Ogun State House of Assembly.
“This win is for all of us. I am more than grateful, and I promise good representation for all of us. As I have promised, I will not let you down. Thank you!”
In his remarks, the INEC National Electoral Commissioner in charge of Ogun, Osun and Ondo states, Prof. Adekunle Ajayi, said the presentation was in accordance with the provision of the Electoral Act 72, Section 1, which stipulated that certificates should be issued to winners within 14 days after elections.
