The Kwara State Government has ordered the immediate closure of Government High School and Government Day Secondary School, Adeta, Ilorin, following repeated incidents of student unrest.

This decision comes after reports of violent clashes among students, disruption of academic activities, and vandalism of school property at the two institutions.

State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, confirmed the closure on Wednesday. He explained that the move is necessary to restore calm and ensure the safety of students and staff.

However, students currently sitting for the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSSCE), along with their teachers, will be allowed into the premises for the duration of the exams. Olohungbebe directed that all SSSCE candidates must wear their school ID cards to gain access to the compound.

He also urged parents and guardians to keep their children at home during the closure, warning that any student found violating the directive would be apprehended by security officers.
